Founded in 1962, this museum is now housed at the University of Witwatersrand and celebrated their 50th anniversary in 2012.

The museum contains interesting and invaluable collections which depict the history of medicine, dentistry and pharmacy through the years, as well as a variety of videos, pictures, sculptures and documents. A collection of rare books can be found at the museum library and many reconstructions can be viewed, including a sangoma consultation, operating theatre and more.

The museum is open Monday – Friday from 09h00 to 16h00, and Saturdays on request.
