Located in the breath-taking Paarl area, this monument officially opened on 10 October 1975 to commemorate the semi centenary of Afrikaans being declared an official language in South Africa. The monument is made up of various structures and is wonderfully interesting. A plaque at the entrance features inscriptions from prominent Afrikaans poets.

Also at the monument are the Volksmond Coffee and Curio Shop, interesting exhibits, a kiddies play area as well as picnic spots.

Entrance Fee: Adults R20, Students R10, Children R5, Kids under 6 years of age free.

Operating Hours: Monday to Sunday 08h00 – 17h00 (Apr-Nov), 08h00 – 20h00 (Dec – Mar)
