The Knysna Heads are two huge sandstone columns that stand side by side at the mouth of the Knysna Lagoon, where the ocean meets the rough sea. The ‘Heads’ form a channel where the angry sea races through.
The Western Side of the head is privately owned and visitors can explore it while on a Featherbed Nature Reserve Tour. The Eastern Side of the head is easily reached by car and there are many view points – perfect for taking in the truly spectacular views. The Eastern Head is also home to a restaurant and a number of locally owned houses.
