Sutherland
Located on a hilltop in a nature reserve near the small town of Sutherland, the Southern African Large Telescope (SALT) is the largest optical telescope in the southern hemisphere. Tours of the telescope includes a guided tour of selected research telescopes inside the observatory including SALT, and a walk through the visitor centre. There are night tours available as well, where visitors can view the night sky through two dedicated visitor telescopes.
