The eclectic city of Windhoek with its laidback atmosphere is located in the central Khomas Highlands in a basin surrounded by rolling mountains. The town features many beautiful German colonial architecture and museums that give insight into the life of the colonists in Namibia. Due to the towns high altitude it has low humidity and cooler conditions than the rest of the country.

Windhoek has a strong European cafe culture with dominant German cuisine combing with the great local produce and meat. Beer brewing is also very popular in Windhoek with many good international and local beers being produced in the town.
