Nestled at the foot of the Boschberg, Somerset East is a quiet and serene town well known for its beautiful forested surroundings – including giant indigenous trees such as Yellowoods. The Boschberg Nature Reserve is home to spectacular hiking trails, streams and waterfalls and an abundance of bird life.

The town is home to a number of historic buildings including the Old Wesleyan Chapel, now home to the Somerset East Museum, and the Walter Battis Art Gallery which showcases the largest collection of the artists work.
