The area of Transgariep is a mixture of typical Free State farmlands, and the bustling industrial and economic centre of Bloemfontein. Transgariep fulfils the typical picture of the Free State with farmlands stretching as far as the eye can see, offering visitor's peace and tranquillity.
Dotted with man-made dams, including the Gariep Dam, this semi-arid region is uniquely beautiful and largely unpopulated. The area has a wild and free feel with quaint and friendly towns amongst the untamed landscape. Tourists are moving away from over commercialized hotspots and going in search of new places in South Africa and as a result places such as the Gariep Dam and the Orange River, which flows into the dam, are growing in popularity.
