Bela-Bela, meaning ‘the water that boils on its own’ was named by the local Tswana people in the 1800’s who came across the hot mineral springs which today are the centre of a popular holiday resort. The therapeutic waters at Bela-Bela bubble up from the earth at a temperature of 53 degrees and some 22 000 litres of water are produced every hour.
The area is also home to a number of game and nature reserves – including the Thaba Kwena Crocodile Farm – and a host of sporting and outdoor activities can be enjoyed against the backdrop of the scenic Waterberg.
