Magoebaskloof is a sub-tropical forested paradise that offers an incredible scenic drive as you head towards Tzaneen. Heading under the slopes of the Wolkberg (Cloud Mountain), the area is filled with beautiful gorges and spectacular waterfalls. Known as the ‘Land of Silver Mists’ the morning mists in the area are simply magical.
The area is named after a Chief Makgoba who was beheaded, due to his refusal to pay taxes or move out of the area, and his head was presented to the Transvaalers as proof of his death.
Guests to this area will love the spectacular scenery and the clear, refreshing mountain air. Visitors will be enchanted by some of the most beautiful gardens in South Africa as they drive through the Letaba Garden Route, with its flowering cherries and multi-coloured azaleas. Magoebaskloof is an ideal place to escape to from the frantic pace of the city.
