The town of Musina, located in the Limpopo Valley, is the northernmost town in South Africa and is in close proximity to the Zimbabwean border at the Limpopo River.

The town is one of the largest copper producing areas in the country and, also the oldest. Evidence suggests that the area was first mined centuries ago by the local Musina people who abandoned their shafts and tools some years before white prospectors arrived in the region in the late 1800's.

The region is also synonymous with the distinct Baobab tree and the Messina Baobab Forest Reserve is dedicated to their preservation. Here over one hundred of these remarkable trees can be seen.
