In the heart of the Panorama region of Mpumalanga lies the town of Graskop. Like its neighbours Sabie and Pilgrim’s Rest, Graskop originated in the heydays of the gold rush in the 1880’s although today forestry is the major industries with neat rows of pine trees fanning out on either side of the meandering roads.
In the Panorama region where the Drakensberg escarpment descends into the lowveld, the landscape is lush and green and outdoor enthusiasts will find plenty of opportunities for hiking, walking and adventuring. Not to mention the nearby Blyde River Canyon that provides spectacular scenery with its deep green chasms, gorges and soaring cliffs. Graskop is a good stop off en-route to the nearby Kruger National Park and many surrounding private game reserves.
