Known as South Africa's hottest town with temperatures ranging from 29C in winter to an average of 33C in summer it is not surprising that Komatipoort is considered to be almost subtropical. Komatipoort is a quaint town where the Komati and Crocodile Rivers meet before they flow into Mozambique.

Komatipoort is a popular base for tourists wanting to explore the Park being and is only 8 kilometres from Crocodile Bridge Gate and 50 kilometres from the Malalane entrance to the Kruger National Park. Golf enthusiasts can enjoy a nine-hole golf course that also has wonderful views of the adjacent Kruger National Park.

Near to Komatipoort is the site of the plane crash where Mozambique's President Samora Machel died, which is now a National Monument. Komatipoort is the main rail and road link between South Africa and both Swaziland and Mozambique.
