The West Coast seaside town of Port Owen is a popular holiday destination and an upmarket marina has been developed around the vlei and a network of canals where the Berg river flows into the sea.
Various water sports and boating activities can be enjoyed both in the marina and the sea and the area is also home to a wide variety of birds – particularly pelicans.
