"We had stayed at the old Bedford Hotel several times in years gone by, Bedford being the home of grandparents. It was very ordinary, though good value. The re-incarnation as the Duke of Bedford Inn was a huge improvement. We stayed in a suite, with a living room, spacious bedroom, and a kitchenette. Furnishings reflected the olden times, in keeping with the long history of the hotel. We were very comfortable, the food was good, and the pianist playing during our evening meal in the ballroom was a real surprise. Other welcome additions were the lovely outdoor eating area, the swimming pool, and the adjoining interesting shops which opened both into this courtyard and to the street frontage. "
