We offer a choice of 6 luxurious rooms, 5 of which enjoy stunning river views. Guests may choose from ground floor rooms opening onto private patios and the riverbank or impressively large, thatched upstairs rooms, each with its own thatched deck. Breakfasts cater to all tastes and include both a full English and health breakfast.
Home-made jams and freshly baked bread by the owners, are to be found on your table every morning.
Free Wi-Fi and a solar-heated swimming pool, to relax with your loved ones whilst on holiday.
Visit the Addo Elephant Park in our open game-viewing Land rover with our qualified and highly rated game-ranger. A full day Addo tour, will include your Park entrance fee, a packed lunch and of course a wonderful Safari. Children must be over 6 years old to be allowed on the open vehicle.
Big Five game-viewing on our doorstep makes the Happy Jackal the perfect choice of luxurious accommodation. This river lodge lies on the banks of the beautiful Sundays River and only 2 minute drive from the Addo Elephant National Park. Easily reached from the N2 it is in the best location for game, coastal or river activities.
Our Sundays River is one of the cleanest in Southern Africa, often hosting swimming and angling competitions. River Cruises down to the river mouth and estuary or upriver to the bush alongside Addo Park are a joy. Cruises can be arranged from 3 hours or longer with a knowledgeable River Guide. Vegetarian Snacks and drinks provided.
The Happy Jackal has its own stable 2-man canoe. We also have our own floating jetty to moor your own boat if required. Sand-boarding, sand-sledding and fishing trips can be arranged.
We suggest:
Upon arrival before 16h00, going on a Sunset River Boat Cruise, departing from our own jetty. This cruise includes a finger supper.
Following morning: Scrumptious Breakfast and a full day Addo Park tour with our Ranger, supper at one of the local venues. Breakfast and depart the following morning
OR
ADD another day.
Breakfast and a drive (5 minutes from our Lodge) to the beach where you will see the highest coastal sand dunes in the Southern Hemisphere. Book a sand boarding activity, or just a great walk on the beach that stretches for miles.
Lunch at Nanaga Farm Stall (15 minutes from our lodge), which is famous for home-made pies and fresh Pineapple Juice. Spend the afternoon at our pool or go on an afternoon into night tour (20 minutes from the Lodge) on a Private Game Reserve, which includes dinner.
