Serenity awaits and animal-watching opportunities abound.
Welcome to Kruger Cottage, a charming three bedroom/three bathroom thatched house in Marloth Park, one of South Africa's best-kept secrets. Marloth Park is tranquil nature conservancy nestled up against the southern boundary fence of the world-acclaimed Kruger National Park and the Crocodile River.
Marloth Park properties are unfenced and contain a diverse range of wildlife that roams freely among the houses. Many guests see more wildlife at closer range at Kruger Cottage than during their drives into Kruger. Be enthralled by the zebra, ostrich, giraffe, warthog, mongoose, impala, monkeys and kudu as well as the abundant bird life as you sit under the covered veranda or in the splash pool. At night, sit around a fire and listen for the roar of the lions, the hooting owls, and the grunting hippo.
Enjoy an exclusive-use, self-catering, and three bedroom/three bathroom cottage with vaulted thatch ceilings. The spacious open-plan kitchen, dining room and lounge are ideally suited for family reunions or other gatherings where people want to gather and spend time together, including the preparation of delicious meals. The common area leads out onto a large thatched veranda adjacent to a cooling splash pool where guests can relax and watch the game wandering through the gardens. There is a braai (BBQ) area for cooking outdoor meals and sitting around the fire in the evenings.
The master bedroom has a double bed and ensuite bathroom. The other two bedrooms each have two single beds and private ensuite bathrooms. One set of beds may be converted into a king-sized bed if the guests prefer (and request in advance). There is a futon in the lounge that provides sleeping space for two additional people. All windows have mosquito netting and are monkey proof. Powerful ceiling fans are fitted throughout.
A double carport provides shade for two vehicles. The house has an alarm and Field Security provide around-the-clock rapid response service.
A five minute walk (~150 metres) from the cottage takes you to an elevated view over the Crocodile River into the Kruger Park. Marloth Park also has its own fenced game reserve – Lionspruit – that contains the more dangerous animals, including lion, buffalo, rhino and leopard.
Marloth Park has its own local village with restaurants, a pub with big screen TV, large swimming pool, filling station, laundry facilities (self-serve or full-service), liquor stores, butcher, home-baked goods, and two mini supermarkets for essential items.
Kruger Cottage is approximately one hour’s drive from Nelspruit (Kruger Mpumalanga International Airport) and a five-hour drive from Johannesburg (OR Tambo International Airport). You will be conveniently located near the Crocodile Bridge (Komatipoort) and Malelane entrance gates to the Kruger National Park. Kruger Cottage is well-positioned for exploration into neighbouring countries: approximately one hour from the Swaziland border and 20 minutes from the Mozambique border.
Kruger Cottage has been awarded three stars by the Tourism Grading Council of South Africa. Kruger Cottage is owner-managed with pride by the mother-daughter team of Joan and Lorelle.
Please note:
* There are no credit card facilities at Marloth Park and the account must be paid before you arrive. Details will be given to you once a booking has been made.
* A refundable breakage deposit is required.

"Our stay at Kruger cottage was amazing. Everything was perfect. the pool was a lifesaver as well as the corner bath. We especially adored the zebra and Vlakvark coming to our door for snacks. You cant buy that kind of nature anywhere or at any other accommodation. The rooms where cosy and neat and tidy. The only suggestion would be to install air conditioner in the rooms. Other than that, there was nothing to complain about. We where so impressed, we have decided to book again with Joan in 2 months time.
We had a car accident in the Kruger National park during our stay, Joan was on the ball trying to assist us with an extra day accommodation and tracking down car mechanics to assist us. She was going the extra mile and that kind of service is hard to find. Furthermore Joan was very informative and made an effort to call us and tell us about all of the animals that come to visit and where we should go and what we should see. Thank you for excellent service and a beautiful place to stay. We have now found a new favourite."
