River Queen is a spacious and charming self-catering holiday home. This 300m2 double storey house offers the ideal accommodation for friends & family gatherings, nature-loving groups, international travellers, or corporate groups.
River Queen is rented in its entirety on a self-catering basis.
This holiday house has 6 ensuite bedrooms (queen size beds, bedding included) and some additional beds in the lounges & a separate toilet and bathroom.
The house has a fully equipped kitchen (with a scullery: dishwasher, washing machine, dryer...), 2 lounges with fireplace, an entertainment area with a billiard table, ping pong, foosball, games etc, TV lounge with DSTV, WIFI.…Upstairs, the spacious lounge leads to 2 sunrooms, a bar area and a wooden terrace overlooking the river and the lush garden. Outside, there is a large swimming pool with its own thatched roof pool house, an outdoor lappa with a braai, and a private jetty on the Breede River.
The Riverine village has its own slipway to launch boats and a petrol station.
We rent Breede River Queen in its entirety, on a self catering basis (incl. bedding, firewood, drinkable water system, all facilities, dog friendly).
Our rates are for groups up to 12 people.
The house can accommodate groups up to 18 people (R300 per extra person per day).
We also cater for smaller or larger groups in different houses situated in the same village.
Living Rooms and Sunrooms:
The 2 large living rooms offer our guests the versatility to enjoy different entertainment simultaneously.
- Downstairs: with a large indoor braai and fireplace. Close to the open plan kitchen and the dining room, you can relax and enjoy the fire during cold days or nights, cook in the braai and watch movies on our large screen TV.
- Upstairs: has a central fire place, a bar and access to the outdoor balcony overlooking the lush garden, swimming pool and the Breede River.
The 2 sunrooms: both upstairs linked to the living rooms, have a stunning view, one on the river and the other one on the dam.
Open Plan Kitchen & Dining Room :
The central open plan kitchen is situated downstairs. It is fully equipped with gas stove, oven & microwave, fridge/freezer, cutlery, crockery and cooking equipment. It is linked to a scullery with 3 sinks, a dish washer and a laundry area with washing machine and dryer.
The Dining room is right next to the open plan kitchen with a large table, and close to the stoep where a long wooden outdoor table can also sit a group of friends or family to enjoy a delicious meal.
Entertaining Area :
The entertaining area is situated downstairs with a direct access to the garden and the swimming pool. It allows our guest to enjoy indoor activities thanks to the billiard table and ping pong table, foosball, dartboard, and games.
Bedrooms :
Nostalgie : Downstairs in the shady corner. This room with queen size bed and ensuite bathroom has a French touch, a favourite amongst late sleepers. The mellow garden view adds a certain calmness to the room.
Sunrise : The sunrise is best in this room and its cooler during warm summer days. With its garden views, its queen size bed and spacious ensuite, it has an African feel with a liberal use of wood and stone. A favourite for some!
La Boheme : The Drift wood bedroom is situated on the first floor, north facing and enjoying the sun all day long. It overlooks the lush garden, the swimming pool and the Breede River. This creative space has river views from the bath, shower, toilet and queen size bed, a private balcony and built in cupboards.
River View : This is a large, spacious room with river views, an adjoining sun room and balcony. Nicely decorated combining wood and metal, this cosy bedroom has a walk in dressing room and His & Hers showers and sinks, a queen size bed and some additional sleeping options for kids.
Outside Stoep & Garden :
A beautiful and natural garden sweeps around the whole of the River Queen. Small enough to enjoy by yourself or large enough for the whole family.
A garden which embraces many different fauna and flora that in unison gives you a habitat full of vibrancy and light. At night the garden becomes a wonderful stage to look up at the breath taking night sky.
The large swimming pool will be your favourite spot on hot days!
River Queen has its own private jetty, giving water lovers access to over 50km of tidal river. Perfect for all kinds of water sports: wake boarding, water skiing, canoeing, kayaking, etc. Fishing is also very popular, as this is arguably the best fishing estuary in South Africa. This un-spoilt piece of paradise is home to an abundance of bird species and wildlife.
Part of the Cape Floral Kingdom with hundreds of varieties of Fynbos, you can enjoy various nature activities (different following the seasons) like hiking, cycling, bird watching, etc.
Only 250km from Cape Town or George, River Queen is situated on the banks of the Breede River, one of the largest and longest navigable rivers in South Africa. She is the original farmhouse of the Breede Riverine Village, 5km south of Malgas. Only 25km away from the Breede River Estuary, the Indian Ocean and De Hoop Nature Reserve, its unique location makes it part of the Lower Breede River Nature Conservancy, known for its rich biodiversity.
