Retro Motel is an outflow of our original venue, Retro Café, due to popular demand.
Our name says it all – a cosy place in Kameeldrift – East, enroute to Dinokeng, Pretoria, where time is of less importance as you experience treasures of a bygone era, and hospitality and tranquillity that makes you want to stay.
Ideal for a romantic getaway, or as a spiritual retreat, bring a book to enjoy in your room or in one of the many beautiful spots in the lush garden. Picnic baskets can be prepared on request and breakfast is optional (can also be enjoyed in your room).
Retro Cafe and Retro Motel is the culmination of years of passionate collecting and carefully coordinating every item to find its perfect spot on our property – an eclectic mix of items from mostly the 50’s, with selected items from the 30’s and 40’s, combined with authentic, rustic wooden furniture.
Dare to be different - our unique setting is ideal as a wedding venue with a difference, catering for 30 to 50 people seated, with a variety of options to choose from – either on our patio, inside the main house, or in the “museum”, with its chequered black and white floor, (surrounded by everything 50’s), in a marquee tent or under the beautiful trees & the boma – the possibilities are endless. This unique experience is however not limited to weddings – let us turn your engagement, 21st, 50th, year-end function, product launch, baby shower or bachelorette etc. into an unforgettable experience. A romantic picnic with that special person, or a fun picnic for a family? Come and join us, find a perfect spot in the garden and relax while you enjoy one of our scrumptious picnic basket choices. Our unique “baskets” will enchant you.
Furthermore, our selection of Harley Davidson’s and semi-restored vintage cars, together with the windmill, large cacti/desert garden and wooden sheds, serve as the ideal backdrop for photoshoots and/or photography students, not to mention the possibilities for beautiful wedding pictures.
