Return Africa
Kruger National Park
Safari/Game Lodge, Self Catering
(19
rooms)
The 26,500ha community-owned Makuleke (Pafuri) region of the Kruger National Park not only boasts some of the most spectacular scenery in the Park but also its greatest biological and geographical diversity. Return Africa offers a diverse set of products from walking trails to luxury accommodation.
Return Africa offers a choice of experiential walking trails, luxury tented accommodation including 4-person family units (either full board or all inclusive) and a comfortable bush house that can accommodate up to 8 persons.
While the walking trails are fully catered, the Pafuri Camp luxury tented accommodation offers the use of the lodge's restaurant and pub. Malateni Bush House has all the comforts of a private home with a fully equipped kitchen.
Pafuri Camp has a restaurant and pub. Besides game drives and bush walks, there is also the option of guided mountain biking with either your own bike or a lodge bike.
The spectacular, private Makuleke Concession of the northern Kruger National Park is perhaps the best area for walking in the entire Park and is blessed not only with exceptional biodiversity but also spectacular scenery, seasonally high densities of many large mammal species, a feeling of wilderness and remoteness, and a sense of history. Habitats include the life-giving arteries of the Limpopo and Luvuvhu rivers, both with well-developed floodplains and a series of vitally important seasonal pans. Between the two rivers lies a ridge of hills with a network of drainage lines and secret perennial springs to which the area's game is drawn. Rugged baobab dotted kopjes jut from mopane woodland and endless vistas across palm-studded floodplains, acacia woodland and ethereal riverine forests. The Makuleke region was returned to its rightful owners, the Makuleke community who were forcibly removed in 1969, in one of the first land claims settled after the end of apartheid. The Makuleke community continue to co-manage the area for conservation as an integral part of the greater Kruger National Park.
