Magoebaskloof Birders’ Cottages are located on Dragonwyck Farm in the Magoebaskloof on the edge of the Limpopo Drakensberg escarpment. Dragonwyck Farm is a working farm producing avocados and indigenous plants. Various walks on the farm follow the streams and provide access to escarpment forest. Dragonwyk Farm practises natural farming methods, and as a result has many birds and animals coexisting with us on the farm
Woodbush Forest, one of the premier birding spots in South Africa, is a short drive away.
Scenic drives in the district offer excellent bird watching. Fishing and adventure activities are available in the Haenertsburg area. Each cottage is surrounded by indigenous plants, providing the ideal habitat for many birds and animals. We have two self catering cottages. The cottages are accessed by a 2 km dirt road. The road is not suitable for drivers who are unaccustomed to dirt roads.
Narina Trogon Cottages has two separate units, Narina and Trogon Cottages. It is only booked as a single unit. It is ideal for two couples who travel together but like to be private. Narina Cottage has a large rondavel/lounge great for guests to get together. The rondavel has a built in braai and lounge chairs. Both rooms are fully equipped for self-catering with a gas stove, fridge-freezer and microwave. All linen and towels are provided. Both rooms have outside baths set in the gardens yet private. Hot water is supplied by a wood-burning geyser.
Robin Cottage is a two bedroom unit. The main bedroom has a bath, shower and toilet tucked into a very private garden outside. The second bedroom has a double bed on the mezzanine level and two single beds on the lower floor. Robin has a fully equipped kitchen with a gas stove, fridge-freezer and microwave. All linen and towels are provided. Hot water is supplied by a wood-burning geyser.
The cottages are no-smoking zones and smokers are kindly requested to smoke outside. Unfortunately no pets are allowed.

Description:
The cottage has two bedrooms. Both bedrooms have double beds. The cottage can be booked by a couple or a family. Cost is calculated per person, minimum 2 guests. The cottage has outside and indoor bathrooms. The outside bathroom has a double bath, shower and toilet.
The inside bathroom has a shower and toilet. The second room has a double bed on the mezzanine level with two single beds on the lower level. Linen and towels are provided. The cottage is not serviced.
Hot water is supplied by a wood burning donkey (geyser). The donkey will be lit every morning at 7h30. The kitchen is fully equipped for self-catering with a gas stove, fridge/freezer, and microwave oven. A braai stand is supplied. We supply firewood for the indoor fireplaces, please bring your own braai wood or charcoal. The cottage is a no-smoking zone; smokers are kindly requested to smoke outside. Regret no pets are allowed.

Description:
Narina Trogon Cottage has two entirely separate units: Narina Cottage and Trogon Cottage (the original Trogon Cottage). This arrangement is ideal for two couples travelling together but would prefer their accommodation to be separate. Each unit is fully equipped for self-catering with a gas stove, fridge/freezer, microwave and kitchen utensils.
Linen and towels are provided. Trogon is not serviced daily. Hot water is supplied by a wood burning donkey(geyser). The donkey will be lit for guests every morning and evening. The units do not have TV’s. Both units are no-smoking zones; smokers are kindly requested to smoke outside. Regret no pets allowed. We supply a packet of wood per day for the warming fire. Charcoal and firewood are available on an honesty payment system.
Narina Cottage has a double bed plus a large couch in the bedroom suitable for younger children. It has a portable braai stand and a built- in braai/fireplace in the rondavel. The rondavel braai is perfect for those cold and wet Magoebaskloof days. Narina Cottage has an inside shower and a private outside double bath.
