The ROMANS VILLA BOUTIQUE GUESTHOUSE is located in a very special spot in the Romansbaai Beach & Fynbos Estate.
All buildings in this eco-estate are ecologically oriented and harmoniously integrated into the unchanged nature. All houses are energetically self-sufficient and without air conditioning. The elegant villa is located directly on the sea and offers 5 luxurious guest suites each with its own spacious en-suite bathroom and private veranda, 3 of which have an outdoor shower. Special emphasis is placed on fine bed linen and towels. Large bathrooms and luxury care products complement the splendour which is Romans Villa.
Romans Villa has proudly been acquired by two new Dutch owners who have transformed the villa into a luxurious 5-bedroom Boutique Guest House. The Guest House aims to offer a spirit of quiet luxury nestled within nature and a relaxed oceanfront guest experience. The entire villa and its surroundings is an architectural encounter. The day begins with an excellent breakfast on the spacious terrace and with a dream view. Our guests will experience “a touch of home” and with the legacy of the beautiful, colourful nation of South Africa.
The smell of ocean and fynbos, an uber-luxurious environment, hosts who go all out to deliver a bespoke experience, plus a beach so private you could skinny-dip is what makes Romans Villa Guest House Gansbaai’s best-kept secret. One of the most seductive arrows in its quiver must be the private beach. Because Romansbaai is surrounded by the estate, it is practically exclusive to its residents and guests.
This magnificent setting offers truly spectacular views with uninterrupted views of Walker Bay, Betty’s Bay, and even False Bay, Muizenberg and Cape Point, on a clear day. Relax, unwind and take in the beauty of Romansbaai.
Gansbaai is located at the southern end of Walker Bay, which is famous for the annual "whale procession". Unlike Hermanus, which is crowded at that time, the small, tranquil town of Gansbaai is still a real insider tip for lovers of this beautiful coastline. From June to October, simply open your room’s curtains and step onto the private veranda for a front-row seat to a mesmerising display of whales and dolphins in the bay. There is also a pool with a wooden deck, furnished with teak outdoor loungers and a table of sunscreens and towels. Or soak up the sun and watch the sunset set with a glass of bubbly.

Romans Villa is close to Gansbaai, a 5-minute drive away. Next door to the estate is the Gansbaai’s 9-hole golf course. There are also excellent wine estates in the area, including Lomond, Springfontein estates, Raka, Stranveld as well as the Hemel-and-Aarde Valley.
Gansbaai is one of the richest bays along the coast, famous for sharks and whale watching. There are also loads of outdoor activities, from a guided fat-bike tour over the De Kelders dunes or unchaperoned mountain-bike routes. A must-see for history buffs is the Strandveld Museum, which houses the largest privately-owned collection of relics from the iconic HMS Birkenhead shipwreck of 1852.
