Built in 1713, Coopmanhuijs was one of the first grand residences in the heart of historic Stellenbosch, and is now surrounded by the towns many stylish shops, galleries, museums and oak trees.
This iconic building at 33 Church Street underwent three years' painstaking renovation before emerging as the 5-star Coopmanhuijs Boutique Hotel & Spa in 2010.
At Coopmanhuijs, a sense of the history and charm of a bygone era is preserved and teamed with the creations of selected artists and skilled craftsmen. Combined with unexpected detail and quirky surprises in décor, the result is pure enchantment which simply delights.
Our 16 guest rooms are air-conditioned and feature extra-length king size or twin single beds and ensuite Victorian bathrooms with underfloor heating. Six guest rooms have their own private balconies. The courtyard encloses a tranquil swimming-pool and discreet health spa.
Helena’s Restaurant is located in two adjoining dining areas within Coopmanhuijs. The first area, beneath an antique yellow-wood ceiling, is appointed with richly embossed French wallpaper. Lighted trees – intricately made of wire – adorn an entire wall. In the second dining area, hand-hewn poplar dining chairs are set beneath the glass roof of a charming conservatoire, which opens onto the enclosed courtyard and swimming-pool.
