Set against the backdrop of the Outeniqua Mountain Range, you will find the old farm village called Kleinvlei. The farm Kleinvlei was purchased in 2016 to form part of the 4200 ha Botlierskop Game Reserve and got its name as a result of all the wetlands. It is located on the northern side of the Reserve very close to the historical Friemersheim that was originally a mission station and the site of the slave quarters for Great Brak River.
The Village lodge consists of historical and modern houses with some dating back to the 1800’s, which were renovated into 2, 3 or 4 bedrooms with en-suite bathrooms in a contemporary country-style interior. The houses can be booked by individual guests or by a group of guests traveling together. The family orientated spacious rooms all have its private entrance, private patio with a view over the garden or valley.
The Village has a total of 13 double rooms and 3 family units with 2 bedroom units and is ideal for families or 3 persons sharing. Each house has got a rich history from the area and has an indoor fire place, lounge area, minibar, air-conditioning, coffee & tea facilities, electrical blanket, telephone, safe and King or twin beds draped in mosquito nets. The en-suite bathroom is lavishly equipped with a deep freestanding bath, double washbasins and a shower. All the rooms in the houses have a private entrance with a patio and parking close to the room.
The layout and design of the gardens was created around the “Watermollen” and “Perdedam” (Grootdrink of Dors) that were already on the Kleinvlei farm with a large dam as focal point and water slots flowing past the houses with vegetable gardens as well as herb gardens that supplies fresh vegetables and herbs to the Bellevue Restaurant. The Bellevue Restaurant at The Village was originally the old school and later served as a shop. One of the last pupils of the Bellevue school in 1938 said that Kleinvlei had one of the strongest athletics teams of all the rural schools.
The lodge is child friendly and all ages are welcome.
