The Welgelegen Cherry Estate is situated on a cherry and apple farm in the Eastern Free State between the Witteberge, 40km from Clarens. On top of the mountain, spectacular views of the Maluti’s and surrounding areas can be enjoyed. The beautiful sandstone formations are distinctive features of the area.
The Witteberg mountain range is also a habitat for a variety of fauna and flora.
Two guest houses, The Apple House sleeping 6, and The Cherry House, sleeping 7 persons are available. Ten luxurious chalets sleeping 4 persons each are now also available.
Welgelegen Cherry Estate offers a wedding and conference venue that can host events of up to 250 guests. It offers wonderful views of the sandstone cliffs with exceptional hues during sunset. There are spectacular photo opportunities with breathtaking nature surrounding the venue.
As a destination wedding venue Welgelegen provides the opportunity to extend your dream wedding with family & friends. Luxurious Bed & Breakfast accommodation for 79 people is available on the farm to ensure that your dream day will be unforgettable. There is an optional Friday night braai and Saturday/Sunday breakfast.

Every season delivers its own unique natural beauty: Spring Blossoms, Summer Fruit, Autumn Leaves, and Winter Snow. Cherry and apple trees blossom in mid-September offering an incredible sight of delicate white flowers. Cherry trees bear fruit during October and November. Apple trees bear fruit from February to April. Beautiful autumn scenes are created with bright orange cherry trees. During winter the snow-capped Maluti Mountains are spectacular and Witteberg in the background always creates fantastic photo opportunities.

The owners are so kind and welcoming. We got there late soo they prepared the wood for us because it was cold. In the morning we went hiking. James made the hiking Saturday experience nicer. I enjoyed my stay. The road in rainy season requires a bakkie(we traveled with a small car) but the owners responded to our call for assistance to get us unstuck and they were very quick...we got back safe. Would recommend it to everyone who is in need of a break from the city life."
