The Mushroom Presidential House, a unique site on the Mfuwe Lagoon inside the South Luangwa Park, was originally built in the early seventies to accommodate the Head of State and his VIP guests.
Following the collapse of the UNIP government in 1991, Mushroom House was left abandoned until Matula Investments won the concession to re-develop the Mushroom Presidential House, and Mushroom Lodge as a commercial tourism development.
Mushroom Lodge offers comfortable, rustic but modern accommodation in twelve secluded thatched chalets setunder Ebony trees along the Mfuwe Lagoon.
Each chalet is well ventilated with large windows and high ceilings and decorated to create a rich African feel, and suite features include en-suite bathroom and indoor shower with a full range of amenities, separate toilet and an outside shower for complete comfort. A separate lounge and private patio overlooking the Lagoon allows for close-up and safe viewing of birds and wildlife that frequently visit the lagoon.
Mushroom Lodge is a child-friendly establishment, and also offers inter-leading chalets for families.
