Magalies Mountain View Cottage
Hekpoort
House/Apartment, Self Catering
(1
unit)
(10 customer reviews)
For the Christmas & Holidays Season we have a minimum 4 night stay.
Gorgeous Magaliesberg mountain views await you from the veranda of our charming 2 bedroom timber-frame cottage. Both bedrooms have bathroom ensuite. Listen out for the early morning bird song or the "whoosh" of the hot air balloon as it passes overhead.
A fully equipped kitchen forms part of the dining/lounge area which opens out onto the veranda. We offer a Weber Braai to use should you wish to braai/BBQ and eat out on the veranda whilst you take in the view. If you don't feel like cooking, then choose from many of the restaurants in the region or seek out a pub to taste some local craft beer. We offer a deli hamper service which includes delicious food goodies sourced from local producers.
Establishment facilities include:
• Private gate entrance.
• Parking is included.
• Fire pit under the stars.
• Patio in the shade of trees.
• Weber braai.
At night black-backed jackal may be heard as they communicate with each other whilst on their foraging patrols or you may see the silent glide of the owl as it flies nearby searching for a movement in the grass below.
Our farm borders on the Magalies River and we offer fishing on a 'catch and release' basis only. A pair of African Fish Eagles are sometimes heard calling along the river. You may be lucky enough to see them flying and circling through the thermal updrafts, continually calling to each other as they gain height before a flight. You could be visited by our free range hens as they wander around looking for tasty things to eat. Children who visit us love to help with egg collecting and the feeding of hens.
If you are wanting to unwind and relax, then the veranda is the place to be - gaze out lazily towards the majestic Magaliesberg mountain - wait for the late afternoon light to soften and bring out the contours and colours of the mountain side. Or watch the storm clouds build up to form interesting shapes across the sky. Catch the last rays of the sun as it sets behind the mountain. There is a short walk from the cottage to the river for those who wish to explore a little. If you're into cycling, then bring your bikes along as there are plenty of farm roads to cycle on.
We have a minimum 2 night stay, and over long weekends it's a minimum 3 night stay policy.
We look forward to hosting you on our farm.
