Makhato 84 is a bush lodge located in the Sondela Nature Reserve in the Limpopo Province, which is just outside the town of Bela-Bela.
We are approximately 90 minutes from Johannesburg International Airport and Sandton. Our Lodge is one of the few units where the view is undisturbed and with the perk of having no neighbours close by, you can enjoy the peace and calm of the bushveld. Sondela offers a variety of wild life interaction, nature walks and quad safaris. At Makhato 84, you are guaranteed to see Njalas (who love bananas), but also encounter giraffe, blouwildebeest, zebra, warthog, meerkat and many other species - right there on our doorstep.
This luxurious self-catering unit can accommodate 6 - 8 guests. It consists of the following: Master bedroom: One king size bed, an ensuite bathroom (twin wash basins, corner bath, shower & loo) and a private door leading onto a little stoop area. Guest bedroom: Two double beds and a private door exiting onto a little stoop area. Open plan loft: Four single beds, one room divider, share the guest bathroom with the guest bedroom. Guest bathroom: Twin wash basins, a corner bath, a shower and a loo. Balcony: Wooden deck area with a table and four chairs, overlooking the braai area and beautiful views of the bush. Open plan living area: Comfortable couch and two chairs, a flat screen TV, full DSTV coverage with a PVR, a radio. Kitchen area: Stocked with everything a cook may need - stove, oven, microwave, fridge, freezer, pots, knives and forks, glasses, etc. Entertainment area: Spacious stoop with an eight-seater dining room table, server, gas heater, and skottelbraai leading to an outside boma area with a large braai area and rugged camping chairs. **All rooms include linen and towels; swimming towels can be rented at the pools.
Establishment facilities include: farmyard wellness and spa facilities, outdoor swimming pool/s recreation programme/s, Sondela Wildlife Conservation Centre, bicycles for hire (hourly/daily), putt-putt, golf, boma and fireplace, bistro and pub, target shooting, sports (tennis, hiking, volley ball and action cricket), game drives (day and night), quad biking, horseback riding, recreational 4x4 riding, and "Kleilat".
