Set in 5 hectares of undisturbed scenic beauty near the charming village of Nottingham Road in the heart of the KwaZulu Natal Midlands of South Africa, Hawklee Country House is an informal and friendly haven idyllically positioned on the banks of the tranquil Lions River. At Hawklee Country House you are invited to escape big city life and simply unwind.
There are several scenic riverside walks, splendid birding, fly-fishing in the river or nearby dams, and lazy swimming in crystal clear natural pools. Hawklee has a 6 hole mashie golf course if you are looking for a bit of fun. The more energetic can indulge in golf, horse riding, cycle touring and country rambles while game reserves, Zulu cultural attractions, and the Anglo-Boer war battlefields are within easy driving distance.
A thatched country complex offers guests warm and hospitable accommodation in six spacious double rooms all en-suite and all featuring a Jacuzzi spa bath.
We serve a 3 course dinner in the evening with a set menu that has a choice of 2 dishes per Starter, main course and Sweet with tea and coffee included. Booking is essential.
Picnic baskets are available on request which can be taken on the Meander or for one of our numerous shady spots by the riverside. These baskets consist of a variety of delights to tempt the taste buds.
Honeymoon package to be placed in the cottage before arrival which consists of 2 engraved wine glasses with the Hawklee logo, bottle of champagne, biltong and dry wors, candles for around the spa bath, chocolates, fruits and nuts. We decorate the chalets with rose petals to complete the romantic feel.
Leopard’s Lair Pub: We have a cozy pub where you can relax and unwind after your long drive, or simply enjoy an ice cold glass of wine or beer after another relaxing day.
***Children between the ages of 0 – 2, no charge but pay a surcharge of R40 for breakfast.
***Children between the ages of 3 – 12 are charged at half price B&B.
***Balance is payable 48 hours before booking in.
