Lake Chrissie Lodge is located in the very heart of South Africa’s gleaming Lake District.
Chrissiesmeer is best known for its incredible bird watching and the Chrissie Pans supports 287 species of birds. In the late summer thousands of lesser flamingos stop over here, one year we counted 18 000 flamingo chicks on Blinkpan.
The first waders arrive in September, so the best time of year for wetland birding is between September and March. Cranes can be seen all year round. Both Blue Crane and Grey Crowned Crane breed in the Chrissiesmeer area, but you may be lucky and also spot the Wattled Crane. Read more about Bird Watching at Chrissiesmeer.
In-room facilities include DSTV and bar fridge. We also offer braai facilities.
Please note:
*** Our breakfast is served from 7:00 - 9:00 am and dinner from 7:00 - 9:00 pm. Should the guest want to leave earlier or arrive later than the above times, a special arrangement can be made with Christa prior to the booking, during office hours for a breakfast / dinner take-away.

"Value for money as an overnight stop or even a few nights if you want some quiet time or to rest after a busy day in the area. Rooms 3 to 8 are attached to each other in a long bungalow witg each having its own entrance. Our room was just a double bed, very clean, with a cupboard, dresser and kettle. No fridge or TV. Also an en suote bath and toilet, no shower. Parked at the entrance and they have beautiful gardens. Cottages 1 and 2, 9, 10, 11 & 12 are stand alone with a double bed in each and a bunk bed for kids. Newly renovated en suite shower and toilet, fridge and kettle and dresser. All rooms have a single comfy chair. The family cottages had small 32inch TVs with DSTV but ours was not paired and we didnt really feel like watching TV so never asked Michelle the manager. The units are decorated in 1950s cottage style as are the original fittings pretty much as it is an old establishment. Also wooden floors. The self catering option is super cheap but they are still going to fix it up a bit. At this stage it isnt very decent if you are middle class. And only two units are there at the back away from the other units a little too close to a pig stye too. The gardens and main building are beatiful and ooze old world charm. Take cash and supplies as the town doesnt have a well stocked shop nor an ATM. The lodge does take card though. Michelle and Bianca who work at the Lodge are really great and helpful and did their best to help all the time. They are excellent hosts. "
