A 5000 hectare private nature reserve in the Nieu Bethesda/Graaff-Reinet region of the Great Karoo, neighbouring the iconic Compassberg in the Sneeuberg Mountains. Wildlife includes plains zebra, black wildebeest, eland, springbok, blesbok & red hartebees. Renowned for its rugged beauty and sense of space, Bergplaas is for those looking for a getaway completely off the grid with time spent walking or mountain biking in the mountains.
Bergplaas offers comfortable accommodation for up to 18 people in double rooms. These are shared on some of the courses and individually occupied on others. Bathrooms are shared, as are the common rooms, dining rooms, lounges, library, bomas and conference/workshop room.
There is no internet or mobile phone connection but landline telephone calls can be made on a pay-per-call basis.
Bergplaas offers overnight accommodation for individuals or small groups, including cycling groups (Bergplaas partners with Great Karoo Cycling) and hiking groups. Catering can be arranged and costed according to the group’s needs. This needs to be booked well in advance.
