Definitely unique with its mixture of nature, culture, 19th Century World Charm & true Klein Karoo hospitality. Our cottages are stylishly and individually decorated with genuine old antiques, with attention to detail.
Situated in the picturesque Schoemanshoek Valley, only 10, 5 kilometres outside Oudtshoorn, en-route to the Cango Caves and surrounded by the enchanting Swartberg Mountain Range.
Rooderandt’s raised location offers a spectacular view across the valley and is abundant with indigenous fauna, flora and birdlife on its 3.5 hectares of unspoilt land.
Rooderandt’s old manor, where guests can sit down for breakfast or lounge on the terrace, is truly a place where time rolls back.
This feeling of entering a time capsule can be attributed to any number of things: the massive poplar roof supports and the reed ceiling, the fireplace that takes up the better part of one wall, the treated clay floors or the antique furniture.
Maybe it’s the old mission bell outside, or the teak front door that comes from Cape Governor Simon van der Stel’s hunting lodge (dating back to the 1600s). Maybe it’s a combination of all these things. However, one thing is for sure: It's impossible to feel rushed here. And if you sit quietly and soak up the rustic atmosphere long enough, you’ll realise why Rooderandt is the place where your heart feels at home.
Although the atmosphere at Rooderandt lends itself to relaxing in good company and interesting conversations, the cottages offer the ideal "hide-away" conducive to relaxation and a bit of soul-searching.
We offer dinner on request, however please note that this must be requested by midday.
