Alkantmooi Private Nature Reserve is situated in the Keurbooms River Valley close to Plettenberg Bay. Originally named Bahia Formosa, or the Beautiful Bay, by Portuguese explorer Manuel de Perestrelo, Plettenberg Bay is on South Africa’s world-renowned Garden Route.

On the hill-top at Alkantmooi Private Nature Reserve you will find yourself surrounded by some of nature’s most exquisite visual displays. The calm turquois of the Indian Ocean seamlessly merges into the green and gold of lush indigenous forests and pristine fynbos that covers the blue-grey mountains, capped by the magnificent African sky. Guiding your eyes through this collage of never-ending vistas is the Keurbooms River. At Alkantmooi you are on top of the world with beauty in every direction, or alkantmooi in Afrikaans. Although Alkantmooi is a short 6 km drive from Plettenberg Bay’s well-developed holiday infrastructure, the private nature reserve is secluded enough to provide nature lovers with the peace and quiet necessary to appreciate the splendour.
Alkantmooi’s accommodation consists of fully-equipped, self-catering luxury apartments with separate entrances. Three units (Keurkloof) boast a spectacular forest view. Easily accessible from the private nature reserve is an array of outdoor activities made possible by Alkantmooi’s close proximity to the ocean, river, forests and mountains. The area boasts an abundance of bird and animal life, including the adjacent Keurbooms River Nature Reserve.
The Keurkloof units feature a fully equipped kitchen, open plan living-area, bathrooms equipped with a bathtub and shower or shower only. Free Wi-fi, satellite TV (flat screen), room safe and hair dryer. All the linen and towels are provided. The units are serviced daily - except on Sundays and Public Holidays.
Safe parking, furnished patios, well equipped outdoor braai areas. Alkantmooi offers the best of both worlds: it is near enough to Plettenberg Bay (only 6 km) to stock up on supplies yet far enough away for uninterrupted peace and quiet. Make the best of the views on wooden decks where well equipped outside braai areas will ensure relaxation and fun.
Exploring beyond Alkantmooi Private Nature Reserve by no means diminishes the beautiful experience. Plettenberg Bay is famous for its unspoiled beaches, fascinating tourist attractions, good restaurants and interesting shops. Just up the road is The Crags, an area known for everything from elephants, monkeys, birds and wild cats to pottery, a theatre in a barn and many wine farms.
