The Apollis Cottage Guest House is situated in Concordia, Namaqualand, a beautiful area in the Northern Cape Province of South Africa. Opened in 2012, it is owned by Annie Vonk and Bernard Vonk.
The Guest House is Annie's dream realized: To open a Guest House on the farm land she grew up on - a way to give birth to a legacy of the Apollis family.
Inside you will find traces of the family legacy through pictures of the parents, children and grandchildren. There are also pieces of furniture from the original house that have been kept and restored, a way to preserve the memory of "Ouma's house". The bed & breakfast guest house boasts 3 large bedrooms, each with their own bathrooms, as well as a large lounge/dining room area, a porch, kitchen, growing garden and braai area at the back. Using its own well for water as well as solar panels for electricity, it really is its own self-sufficient oasis in the desert.
Apollis Cottage guest house accommodation includes self-catering amenities, tea and coffee, DSTV in all rooms.
Establishment facilities include: conferencing facilities, braai facilities, and splash pool. It is wheelchair accessible. Breakfast can be enjoyed in the dining room. There is a large relaxation area, fruit and vegetable garden, water sourced from a borehole and wind pump, solar panels provide solar energy for electricity, septic tank, and Namaqualand flowers.
Meals:
Breakfast is served 08h30 to 10h30.
Light lunch can be served if requested one (1) day in advance.
Dinner: Please note that a dinner reservation is advisable.
Services:
The Folder in your room contains information relating to other services at The Apollis Cottage and the surrounding area. Our laundry service is available simply by filling in the laundry list provided and placing your laundry in the bag in the morning.
We constantly strive to improve on services and the facilities at Apollis Cottage and would therefore welcome your input on our Guest Questionnaire.
Concordia was originally established as a Rhenish mission station in 1852 and copper mining began in 1853 through to 1933 in the area. The Boers used Concordia as their headquarters during the Anglo Boer war whilst Okiep was under siege. Today some of the magnificent examples of Cornish stone masonry still exist in addition to the original granary which was used as a hospital by the Boer commandos during the Anglo Boer war.
Please note:
***No persons other than those quoted for and booked are permitted to share the accommodation.
***No visitors, that are not guests, are allowed on our premises.
