Safari/Game Lodge, Self Catering

The lodge is situated in an oasis of Fever Trees, Sausage Trees and the ever present Mopane Trees. With the Mogalakwena River flowing in front of the lodge, with it comes an abundance of bird life that can be seen by simply taking a short stroll through the camp grounds. Limpokwena has over 350 recorded bird species which would keep any keen birder occupied for hours.
Along with the colorful array of bird species, a regular sighting from the banks is a number of Nile Crocodiles that spend their day’s sun tanning on the shores.
The reserve borders Botswana on the northern side, with the state veterinary fence dividing the property. From a vantage point on the mountains, it is possible to look Botswana’s Thuli Block, which emphasizes the vast spaces and natural wilderness.
Our lodge is best suited for family groups looking to get away for a while and regroup, or couples wanting to spend some quality time together in a tranquil and relaxing environment. Our Lodge is a small, unassuming lodge that prides itself on simplicity and appreciating the wilderness from a new perspective. Take a game drive with our knowledgeable guide who will introduce you to the small intricacies of nature that often go unnoticed; track an elephant who may paid us a midnight visit; or take a night drive to discover the nocturnal life that surrounds us in our sleep with the chance at spotting Porcupine, spotted Hyena, or the ever elusive Leopard!
Limpokwena also falls within what is known as the Mapangubwe Golden Mile, which incorporates sites of historical significance of the movement of previous tribes throughout the area, and containing old artefacts, rock paintings, and ancient evidence of inhabitation. There is still evidence of previous inhabitation at Limpokwena, with rock formations depicting old homesteads, burial sites and clay pot remnants that can still be found scattered around the koppies.

Morning tour with Railey is something you never forget. Late afternoon
come our "fireman" and make a fire to the braai for that evening. Lovely!!!
You can spend some hours on the viewing deck just with the river and even
