At Thanda Tau, come and discover a unique combination of South African art and culture whilst relishing in a variety of dining experiences, and the opportunity to interact with our majestic wildlife. With a unique blend of luxury and the natural environment, we at Thanda Tau aim to deliver a truly holistic South African experience to a wide variety of travellers. Guests can enjoy the peaceful ambience of the Free State grasslands, whilst enjoying a refreshing hand crafted beer, or a glass of wine under our pergolas, with a view of our majestic lions.

Come and explore our many facilities including a restaurant, micro-brewery, wine boutique, bakery and coffee bar, deli and glorious array of local and international arts and crafts. We also offer the convenience of an on-site fuel station, an OK Express grocer to get those much-needed essentials and a Spur Grill and Go, for those in need of a speedy refreshment.

Dining:
Dining options range from a selection of freshly baked breads and locally sourced produce to be enjoyed as a picnic in our beautifully landscaped gardens, or savour in South African-inspired delicacies at our Thanda Tau restaurant.

Microbrewery:
For our head Brewer, his beer is not merely a craft but a way of life. This he hopes to share with beer lovers and enthusiasts alike, who are able to view the brewing process from the comfort of the bar, whilst enjoying one of the carefully calculated and ‘tasted’, or rather tested creations.

Deli and bakery:
With an uncanny ability to combine unique ingredients to create delicious jams and preservers, one of the founders of Thanda Tau has personally selected some of her much loved produce and daily baked breads and confectionary to be enjoyed with a picnic in the gardens.

Wine Boutique:
In the words of Andre Simon, ‘Wine makes every meal an occasion, every table more elegant, and every day more civilized’. Our wines have been sourced from the best regions in the Cape to provide you with that perfect bottle of wine for every occasion.

Playpark:
As a family-run business, we understand the importance of treasured moments with your loved ones. Whilst relaxing in our tranquil surrounds, your little ones can experience the various joys awaiting them in the gardens of Thanda Tau.

Wildlife conservation:
Thanda Tau is not simply about enjoying a moment of tranquillity but an appreciation of the majestic. We invite you to come and spend some time with our beautiful wildlife on the farm whilst learning about how you can assist with the conservation of these species. Too many species in South Africa can only be viewed at sanctuaries such as Thanda Tau, as populations in the wild have become extinct. We hope to raise awareness on the endangerment of our wildlife whilst allowing our guests the opportunity to become more familiar with these animals.
