Mhondoro Game Lodge is a luxury 5-star accommodation in Welgevonden Game Reserve, a malaria-free and Big 5 game reserve in Limpopo, South Africa. The luxurious, child-friendly lodge has quickly become famous for its new underground waterhole hide, connected to the main lodge by a tunnel, offering an easy, safe and above all unique opportunity to be amongst the animals drinking at the waterhole in front of the lodge.
Mhondoro is the only 5-star safari lodge that has this feature. The lodge is located a 2 hour and 45 minutes’ drive (or less than 1 hour flight) from O.R. Tambo International Airport, making it the perfect safari destination for those who arrive in South Africa in Johannesburg.
Facilities include: View on waterhole and bush, deck with comfy chairs and sunloungers, gas fire place, electronic safe, minibar, iPhone docking station, air-conditioning and fan, black out curtains, hairdryer, Rain amenities, bathroom with bath, double vanities, inside and outside shower, king size extra length bed, coffee and tea making facilities, living area's (Family Suite and Executive Suite) and heated plunge pool (Honeymoon Suite). The Villa has a private pool, a private gym and a yoga room.
Mhondoro is family friendly yet private and quiet to accommodate small groups to relax and explore the abundantly present wildlife during game drives. For those who prefer to indulge in ultimate relaxation or work up some sweat, the spa and gym are at your disposal, including a team of qualified and experienced beauty therapists. The heated pool, sauna, bar, library and lounge are available for all guests during the whole day. Other services: Curio Shop, TV lounge, private check-in/check-out, laundry, play room, baby sitting (per hour) and our underground waterhole hide. All our rooms have private en-suite bathrooms and are serviced daily. Reception and management are reachable 24/7 and are happy to assist with any request.
Rates include:
- Accommodation, full house keeping, all meals, teas, coffees, soft drinks, local beers, local spirits and house wines.
- Two safari activities per day, including game drives in open vehicles or walking safaris with Mhondoro guide, free Wi-Fi in the Main Lodge, gym and secure parking.
- Return scheduled transfers from Welgevonden Reserve Main Gate or the Welgevonden Airstrip to Mhondoro Game Lodge.
Please note:
*** Rates are subject to change without prior notice. Rates are per person per night, and VAT.
*** Regret children under 6 years of age may not be accommodated on scheduled game drives when other guests are joining. Private game drives may be arranged for families with small children at a rate of R750 per game drive, subject to the availability of a vehicle and a ranger.
*** Minimum of 3 nights stay between 19th of December 2017 and 10th of January 2018.
*** Collections & Drop Off's: Pick-up time is between 12h30 and 13h00 at Welgevonden main gate on the day of arrival.
Departure time to Welgevonden main gate is 11h00 on the day of departure. Collections or drop-off's outside of these stipulated times will be at an extra cost and charged as an extra fee.
*** The lodge reserves the right to restrict one night bookings over weekends or peak periods.
*** No malaria precautions are required when visiting the Welgevonden Game Reserve.
*** Child minding services are available at additional costs. Kindly enquire for more information.
*** Dietary restrictions and/or special requirements should be advised in advance so that we can make adequate provision.
We are offering some exciting new activities at Mhondoro Lodge – they need to be pre-booked and are at an additional cost.
Rhino Tracking – While accompanied by our experienced Ranger, guests will embark on an once-in-a-lifetime experience in search of the white rhino; a highly-endangered species that is protected within the Welgevonden Game Reserve. The Mhondoro Rhino Tracking activity could vary from between 1 to 2.5 hours, and at an additional cost.
Shooting Activities – We have designed an exciting target shooting excursion for guests (16 years and older) interested in learning some of the bush and rifle skills our game rangers require to conduct their daily responsibilities safely and responsibly. The excursion is at an additional cost and is presented outside of the Reserve. It is an adrenaline packed activity that takes between 3 to 4 hours.
