Africamps is all about boutique camping (or glamping) at the most beautiful working farms and estates in South Africa. AfriCamps at Doolhof is set within the award-winning Doolhof Wine Estate, between the historic Bainskloof Pass and the Groenberg Mountain Range in the picturesque Cape Winelands town of Wellington.
AfriCamps' six boutique glamping tents are surrounded by vineyards, mountain views and the peaceful Kromme River that makes its way through the farm. It's the perfect backdrop to admire from our outdoor wood-fired hot tubs.
Activities on the estate include a 5 km vineyard hike, river walk, mountain bike trails that start on the property, picnicking at various spots on the farm and the gorgeous wine tasting room where you can try some of the estate’s award-winning wines along with sumptuous lunch or platters. You can also enjoy a selection of spa treatments from the comfort and privacy of your own tent.
Explore the surrounding area’s popular mountain bike trails, hiking trails in the Limietberg Nature Reserve, horse riding, touring between various Wellington wine farms and distilleries as well as golf played on world-class golf courses.
Two white varietals, Sauvignon Blanc and Chardonnay and a substantial number of reds, Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, Petit Verdot, Malbec, Merlot, Pinotage and Shiraz are produced at Doolhof. The white varietals are planted on the eastern slopes of the Groenberg, which allow the grapes cooler days and less direct sunlight. A hike through our vineyards and a visit to the estate’s tasting room is a must for wine connoisseurs.
Each AfriCamps tent consists of an outdoor wood-fired hot tub or splash pool, a spacious open plan lounge area with a comfortable couch, a dining area with solid wooden table and seating for 5 guests, a fully-equipped kitchen, two bedrooms which comfortably sleeps 5 guests and a bathroom complete with hot shower, flushing toilet and wash basin.
Both bedrooms are furnished with a queen size bed and have their own private entrance which allows maximum privacy. One of the bedrooms also contains a single bunk bed. Our tents are equipped with air-conditioning and an indoor fireplace. Enjoy a braai on our spacious wooden decks and enjoy the views from the comfortable deck loungers. Pull up the front covers and transform the tent into a large outdoor living area. Unwind and appreciate a festive family breakfast while taking in the serene natural beauty of the South African landscape.

The setting was magnificent. The tent was amazing - it had everything one could possibly need and was extremely comfortable. The bed and linen were of high quality and the bathroom was very spacious. It was like home away from home but in a tent! We did some wine tasting on the estate and enjoyed some excellent walks around the estate and surrounding forest. A real bonus was being able to take our dog with us. The staff were friendly and very efficient ensuring that our stay was as comfortable as possible. I would highly recommend Africamps at Doolhof and we will definitely be returning in the future."
