The Dunes Lodge is perched on top of a dune plateau, overlooking panoramic desert vistas in all directions. The building style is a blend of wooden structures and canvas blinds, opening up to the desert beyond. Each of the chalets has a verandah, overlooking vast stretches of untouched sand.
Our portfolio of camps provides the perfect base from which to explore vast stretches of pristine nature where you will encounter small and large desert dwellers, an intriguing flora and a fascinating geology.

Each camp has been carefully sited and flaunts its own distinctive backdrop of awe-inspiring desert scenery. All camps were constructed using poles, elevated wooden decks and roll-up canvas walls and are driven solely by solar power - ensuring a very light environmental footprint on the pristine desert ecology. The Dunes Lodge is perched on top of a dune plateau, overlooking panoramic vistas in all directions and capturing the beauty of the desert in a most memorable way. The building style is a combination of wooden structures and canvas blinds, opening up to the desert beyond. The lodge reflects the ambience of a tented camp, but provides the comfort and protection of a permanent building. Each of the spacious chalets with en-suite bathrooms has a private verandah, which connects you to vast stretches of untouched sand. Sleeping with your canvas blinds open is just like sleeping under the stars. Dinners, of course, are a lavish, but unpretentious affair. They always exude a sense of occasion with elegant table settings, candlelight and exuberant menu announcements in the local Nama language. Wolwedans has a reputation for serving the best meals on the Namibian safari circuit and we are more than happy to indulge you with our innovative, wholesome and sophisticated 'bush-cuisine', prepared lovingly with home-grown organic fresh produce and paired with excellent local and South African wines.
Our Lodge and Camps exude old world charm and none of the creature comforts are missing: crisp white sheets, warm down duvets for those chilly desert nights and solar-heated hot showers after a long drive in the great beyond.
The main complex - which has been completely rebuilt during 2003 - consists of two lounges, a number of sundowner decks, a fireplace, a tea deck, a library, the wine cellar and two dining rooms. The lodge also has a swimming pool, which is suspended above the sand. All communal areas of the lodge open out onto decks with superb views. The variety of recreational space makes a visit both exciting and relaxing. Not to forget your physical wellbeing Wolwedans has a resident massage therapist specializing in Swedish massage, Marula Oil Massage, Indian Head Massage and Foot Massage. Enjoy our range of soothing massages in the serenity of the surrounding desert, making your Wolwedans experience even more memorable.
Namib Rand Nature Reserve, which is located just south of Sossusvlei, is synonymous with some of Africa's most breath-taking locations. The special attraction of the reserve is the diversity of landscape. Virtually all facets of the Namib are represented here, creating a living tapestry of colours and shapes that makes it a visual utopia for artists and photographers.
