The stables and the friendly horses that were preparing to bed had the perfect aroma.
Icing on the cake was my 22 month old daughter going on 2 maiden pony rides, which she thoroughly enjoyed.

Driving from Joburg, I'd highly recommend the Machadodorp/Lydenrust route as the Mashishini/Lydenrust route is terrible (something out of control of the establishment unfortunately).

We will be back next year for sure!!!"

Alison Botha is a wonderful hostess. Her care and support form the beginning was a blessing. I asked her to prepare a welcoming gift for me and my husband to ensure that he knows how much I love him.

Alison did more that I asked and it was such a surprise to find the welcoming note, two bottles of red wine and our names written on a horse shoe with the our marriage date.

For people whom love nature and farm life, this is the place to stay.

You can book a horse riding event and this is also a must as the farmland is beautiful especially on the back of the well groomed and cared for horses.

Only warning is that the roads in and around Lydenburg is not to be traveled with cars with low suspensions as there are a hell of a lot of pot-holes (big...bigger...enormous) Thus plan your trip and be save."

It's quite remote so you need to make sure you bring all your own supplies for food, but the cottage is fully kitted up. It's also nicely done up and very comfy. We did a short horse trek in the morning which was lovely."
