Drayton is one of the oldest farms in the Overberg and the original mill, that dates back to the mid 1700's, is still on the farm, as well as part of the original wagon route. The farm is only 8km outside Caledon, on the N2 in the direction of Riviersonderend. Visitors can reach the cottage by car and will only have to travel 800m of gravel road. On arrival guests will receive a freshly baked bread and home baked rusks. A menu from which guests can order home cooked meals and fresh baking, to be enjoyed in the privacy of the cottage is also provided. Guests can relax on the veranda and enjoy the scenery, or take an easy hike to the waterfall in the nearby mountain. A small mountain stream also flows past the cottage. The casino is less than 10km away.

Piet-my-Vrou is the Afrikaans name for the Mockingbird or Red Chested Cuckoo that you find here in spring time. The cottage is situated on the working farm, Drayton, at the foot of a beautiful mountain.

Piet-My-Vrou facilities: The cottage has two bedrooms; one with 2 single or king beds and the other with four single beds (of which two are a bunkbeds). The beds all have crisp white percale linen and good quality mattresses. The bathroom has a shower and a bath with a separate toilet. For the adventurous there is also an outside shower. Towels are provided. The open plan kitchen is fully equipped with: fridge / freezer, microwave, two plate hob and a fireplace.

Establishment facilities include: braai/barbecue on site, DSTV in living room, fireplace, nature trail on site, and safe and secure parking.

"Beautiful surroundings but keep in mind the cottage is rustic with mountain water. Not child friendly and the place needs burglar bars like the main house. No DSTV as advertised on website

"Six of us arrived at 16:00 on Saturday afternoon. We had been wedding venue hunting and were looking forward to a braai and some downtime in the cottage. We arrived and were greeted warmly by Rene. She helped us settle in quickly! She brought us delicious, freshly baked bread to enjoy with our dinner and Tienie brought firewood down for our fire. We spent the afternoon sitting on the patio and marveling at the incredible bird life in the area. The water is mountain water so not good for drinking, but perfect for everything else. We had warm showers and comfy beds. It was a lovely, relaxing way to spend the evening."
