"A Lodge on the Lake is exactly what it says... a lodge with stunning views of the lakes of Wilderness. Wildlife on the lake can be viewed at leisure from any of the balconies with the picturesque Outiniqua mountains as a backdrop.

The lodge itself is a stunningly beautiful building, the landscaping and architecture designed to the finest detail. The rooms are luxurious and one has to make a conscious decision to go somewhere and to leave the lodge.

However. All is not what is to be expected from a 5 star establishment. Here are some of the concerns.

We were disappointed to find that all the condiments in our room were not replenished before our arrival, or on a daily basis. Multiple requests had to be issued.

Breakfast did not cater for the number of guest at the lodge, hence the not so early birds had to pick at the leftovers.

No air refresher in the bathroom?! We could not combat nature or the smell of cigarettes from the guests before us in the lavatory.

General maintenance also needs some attention with basin not flowing properly, fittings coming loose, etc."

"Unfortunately the weather was awful when we arrived at the Lodge. It was pouring down with rain. However it never affected our stay at the Lodge on the Lake as their terraces are very well sheltered from any inconvenience which might occur.
The rooms (we accommodated 3 with six people) were all very well equipped and all necessities available. Large beds, nice balconies overlooking the lake, bathrooms with separate baths and showers.
Breakfast was very well taken care off, with friendly staff trying to get everybody whatever they might need.
Only downside; we were offered a welcome drink which later on was added to the bill, to our surprise. However didn't change our opinion about the accommodation.
We all enjoyed our stay at the Lodge very much and we can recommend it, for sure we'll be using this accommodation again when inviting friends and family to our lovely country in the future."

A massage in the treatment room is essential - Eileen is excellent. Breakfast was so romantic, that even after 30 years of marriage, we imagined ourselves to be on honeymoon. James cooks the best scrambled eggs on the Garden Route.
