The accommodation is simple but more than adequate, with a premium placed on comfort and practicality without losing the country charm that makes places like Kinmel so special.

I was very impressed by the relative privacy offered by Kinmel. It really is an ideal place to come to experience the simplicity, tranquility and natural beauty of country life.

There are a number of walks or hikes to do as well as trout fishing on the property; or one can simply put another log on the fire and relax!

We left via the Naude's Nek pass and what a spectacular drive that is within close proximity of Kinmel - I highly recommend the drive but just perhaps in a 4x4 rather than a hatchback!

We had a lovely stay at Kinmel Mountain Retreat and would happily recommend it to anyone looking to escape and enjoy the natural beauty and peace of mind that country living offers!

"Accommodation is comfortable without being luxurious. It consists of two semi-detached units, each with two smallish double bedrooms upstairs and two bathrooms, one of which is downstairs. There's also an open-plan lounge and kitchen downstairs. The most pleasant part of the accommodation is a wide covered verandah, with a braai and a wonderful outlook towards the stream and over the mountains. They should get more comfortable chairs on the verandah.

Willem and Wilna are friendly and approachable. Kinmel is a working sheep farm, so expect to see (and hear) plenty of sheep. The walk we took went up to a beautiful waterfall, where we had a skinny dip that was nothing if not invigorating.

The variety of birdlife visible from the verandah added to the pleasure of sitting there - it included hoopoes, black eagle, lammergeier, finches and doves.

We spent two nights at Kinmel, and would certainly go back again."
