Everything looks very professional. The old plastic chairs don«t fit to the new outlay and hopefully they will change it in the future as well as the dark lightning.

I stayed there for 3 nights and one can easily spend more days.

The guides are very knowledgeable and especially Patrick is quite humorous.

Staying in May is no problem at all. A little bit chilly in the morning but quite warm during the day.

The Manager Tom also went the extra mile helping me out with a vehicle problem. All the staff we had contact with were always bright and cheerful. We would certainly recommend both local and overseas visitors to make sure Tembe is on their places to visit list."

"Really enjoyed the tented accommodation. Staff were very friendly and hospitable. Our guide, Carlos, was exceptional. Didn't see very much game unfortunately, so it was just as well we were all interested in birds."

"What a great place if you're looking for a real African lodge experience! The staff makes Tembe such a pleasant experience! They are so helpful, friendly and incredibly pleasant all the time. Nothing is too much and they even made me a chocolate birthday cake for my birthday followed by a traditional happy birthday song and wishes! Made me feel very special! The drums beating under the stars, around a big African fire was like listening to Africa's heart beating and the zulu dancers the blood running through her veins! amazing performance! We were mesmerised! What a fabulous birthday weekend! Thanks Tembe!! Wishing you all the success in the future! "

"Bestens gefŸhrt"

(Germany) Ursula Happe

"Wir waren zwei Tage vor Ort - das Camp ist bestens gefŸhrt - es hat uns gut gefallen. Alle sind Šu§erst freundlich. Bei den Gamedrives ist man leider abhŠngig von etwas GlŸck. Immer nur Spuren auf dem Weg ersetzen eben nicht, die Tiere wirklich zu sehen)."

"A fantastic experience"

(United States of America) Mark Kornbluh

"We had a fantastic time at the Tembe Elephant Park. The local staff cares and works hard to make stays special. The terrain of the park is unique and the guides do an excellent job of tracking animals. We saw lions on every drive as well as a large variety of animals."

We had the chance to see three lions from our car at sunset, followed by more than 30 elephants crossing our road 10 mintues later, and lots of buffalo, rhino, and of course nyala, kudu and impala. A welcome with a traditional Zulu song reminded us of the Tahitian welcome and the people serving us were really friendly and kind. A good place for animals, a bush experience with monkeys knocking at your tent in the morning, and jungle jokes delivered by the staff around the fire when darkness falls."

"We stayed two nights at Tembe and had a true experience of living in the bush. We saw three of the big five and lots more animals and birds on our game drives. Having said that I'm sure you could also experience game drives and not see many animals at all as Tembe covers a vast area and of course the animals can go anywhere and not be seen. This happened on one of our drives - all we saw were a few Impala and Nyala but 'hey' they don't pop out in front of you to order.

On our drives there were eight guests and we only met one other vehicle all the time we were there. It was lovely coming back after the afternoon game drive to the welcoming camp fire and the lovely meal prepared for us. We thoroughly recommend staying a couple of nights or more here and enjoy.

"EXCELLENT SERVICE GOOD VALUE FOR MONEY"

(South Africa) gail

"The community run lodge is well managed, clean, functional, excellent food with friendly efficient staff. Overall in comparison to other game lodges in the area, this can be considered excellent value for money. We enjoyed our stay and will definitely return for another visit."

"tembe "

(South Africa) Gill

"Recently stayed at Tembe with visiting Uk family - camp accommodations and staff all very good and excellent value for money. The game viewing was a bit quiet - but never the less had several good elephant sightings. Water hole was very nice - with good elephant and giraffe sightings there."

"Having visited many game lodges in Southern Africa, I can honestly say that this is up there with the best of them. The accommodation was well laid out and spacious, the food was incredible and the staff the best. The head ranger Tom did all he could to find us as much game as possible, bearing in mind that it was extremely hot, and the game didn't want to play.
The entertainment on the Saturday night by local high school children was the highlight of our stay.

"As frequent visitors of South Africa and the National Parks and private reserves in Kwazulu Natal, we can say, that the 5 days we spent in Tembe were simply perfect.
It was our first stay in the Tembe Lodge. Our Safari Tent was very nice and offered us beside the full equipment a feeling of being alone in the middle of the bush but also being home and safe. The friendly service of all the girls and boys was perfect. Our guide Carlos had a brilliant knowledge of all the wildlife, even of all those little things and found at least nearly all the big 5...
Especially the visit of Isilo at 3 o´clock in the morning in front of our tent will be one of these memories which will last forever.
Our 4WD self-drives were packed with big moments too.
Finally.... It was a time of joy and relaxation, with the lovely people of Tembe.
Thanks and a big hug for all of the Tembe-Team.
... We will come back... Cheers

"Life slows right down at Tembe. Feeling so secure, being driven around by knowledgeable, experienced rangers, one is easily able to absorb the muted colours of the vegetation, tune in to the deep, natural peace and observe all the details, which abound. The senses are awakened and the smells and calls of animals and birds provide the backdrop for viewing game in its natural, uncontrived habitat. Tembe is vast, unspoilt and uncrowded by vehicles and people. The base camp is conducive to relaxation and rest. Every need is taken care of and the daily routine is planned to allow for a well paced day in the bush. Accommodation is spotless, comfortable and very appropriate for a game park.'Tents' are well spaced apart to allow for privacy and quiet. Tembe staff go out of their way to welcome guests and see to their needs. How refreshing to be attended to in this polite, respectful, unpatronising, unrehearsed manner.Smiles are real and happiness is infectious. The true test of a visit to Tembe is the place it finds in one's memory and heart. We will always associate our warm memories of this gem of a place with an outstanding experience of our country's hospitality and bounty. A visit which we will most definitely repeat. "
