"Restful break"

"We had a restful break at this little oasis village. High Hopes was a great place to stay- had everything we needed and our host was so helpful and welcoming. I would have loved a treatment which unfortunately wasn't available the weekend we were there."

"We stayed for four nights in March and were in the 'Lily room'. We found the room to be very comfortable and had plenty of space. The view from the bay window directly looks out over the stunning garden. The only slight criticism is that there is no shower in this room (just a hand held tap attachment shower over the bath). Not too much of a problem but one to be aware of. Breakfasts were excellent and varied each day. All the staff at High Hopes are very helpful and there was a genuinely warm and friendly atmosphere which made us feel welcome from the start. Greyton is a lovely little village with a quirky feel to it. It may seem a little sleepy at first glance, but once settled you will find that there is plenty to do - restaurants, cafes, market, art galleries etc. Local people are very friendly and it was safe to walk around at night without worry (about 15/20 mins walk to restaurants)."

"Lovely and restful"

(South Africa) Lauren Bradfield

"We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at high hopes, despite it being a short visit. Sharon was a great host and really made us feel at home. We enjoyed the pool, garden and the delicious breakfast. We looking forward to visiting again!"

"Not good"

(South Africa) Mark Wollenschlaeger

"We had an ant infestation in our room to the degree that we had to throw out all our food - they got in everywhere. Housekeeping didn't pick this up either, although the ants were all over the kettle/coffee station in the corner of the room and ants all over the dresser - which shows that they don't..."

Housekeeping didn't pick this up either, although the ants were all over the kettle/coffee station in the corner of the room and ants all over the dresser - which shows that they don't clean.

In Winter, one thin blanket over the duvet is not enough to stay warm. You might want to place thicker blankets and more than one in the cupboard.

We found it rather amazing that in the two days and 2 nights we stayed over, our bed wasn't made up even once during that weekend. If we were told up front that we had to make our own bed, we would have done so in the morning before going out for the day. It isn't nice coming back to a room that isn't made up.

Breakfast was lovely. We loved the variation of food and the fruit yoghurt smoothie on Sunday was amazing."

"Relaxing"

(South Africa) ian Saker

"It was very relaxing. The bed was a bit uncomfortable, but the wonderful breakfast made up for it."

"High Hopes "

(South Africa) Ashley Hurwitz

"The cottage was very nice and comfortable. We loved the divine, warm duvets."

"Perfect"

(South Africa) Miranda Ward

"The Violet Suite was perfect for our Greyton getaway. Our hosts were quietly efficient and prepared a wonderful breakfast that replenished our reserves after having completed the MTB and trail run. "

"Great Place To Stay!"

(South Africa) Janet

"It was peaceful, tranquil and the surroundings was beautiful. We had a lovely room and we could have delicious breakfast on the stoep (veranda) every morning. The Host was generous and the experience was wonderful.
We would re-visit anytime."

"Nice Stay"

Our stay was 10 days, towels changed daily, linen replaced frequently. A very comfortable bed, anti allergenic pillows etc supplied. There were two comfy chairs for relaxing. The bathroom good with very efficient shower. Tasty varied breakfast based on vegetarian menu. Would definitely visit again.

"The accommodation and gardens of High Hopes are one of the most peaceful I have ever experienced in my travels. The cottage we had facing down the garden towards the swimming pool and rose arch walk just visible between the trees made us feel that we were somewhere on our own. The cottage style décor, comfortable furnishings and sublimely comfortable queen size bed made it hard to leave. The stove style log fire kept us snugly warm at night when the temperature dropped and covered veranda with outside table and chairs were perfect for a braai in the evening. This is a very special place, the memory of which will linger for a long time and draw us back again to Greyton."

The room was spotless and all we needed was provided. The setting was magnificent and tranquil with nature all around - how lovely is it to wake up to a bird song and a roaming friendly chicken looking for food. Sharon the owner is both discreet and yet demonstrates an innate friendliness and genuine humanity towards her guests. High Hopes is an eye opener to hospitality at its best. "

"Lovely and beautiful"

(South Africa) Mrs Fridjhon

"We had a wonderful stay, loved the setting, the food, the animals! The hostess was charming and warm. Will go back."

A huge bay window with lots of space to sit and read or enjoy the view of the massive garden with a cup of tea, coffee or sherry (provided in the room). Breakfast is excellent and served in a relaxing environment with under floor heating in winter and with very soothing background music and next to the most beautiful piano. Angela studied music, and musical performances of various artists are organised periodically. The massage and kinesiology was the best we encountered. Sharon is a very easygoing, warm and helpful. We want to go back some day."

"This is a "secret garden" haven for relaxation and the rejuvenation of the spirit. Sharon and Angela went out of their way to provide a comprehensive service, with good advice, seamless restaurant bookings, tons of ideas for exploring and enjoying the wonderful Greyton experience and, above all, they were friendly, professional and very discreet hosts. And then, of course, the breakfasts! Unique, perfectly prepared and very special. All in all, a weekend to remember and savour long after it ended. Thanks. "

"There is no doubt that the surrounds of High Hopes contributes massively to the pleasure of staying over for a day or two. The room was beautifully and tastefully decorated and the view from the double doors across the garden was stunning.

The breakfast both mornings were most unusual and beautifully presented. Nothing like your ordinary bacon and egg and toast. Something really special was served both days.

We were made to feel most welcome at all times and we can not fault them on any part of our stay."
