The kids loved seeing chickens, sheep, cattle and horses. We loved exploring the small town which is close by.Beware of roadworks on the Standerton road from Johannesburg which added an hour to our journey. Rather take the N17 to Bethal and then Volksrust - or check with the owners."

I arrived as one only can from the madness of JHB and left with a calmness I have not felt for years.Every morning I was delighted by the beautiful sunrises and enamoured with the little town of Wakkerstroom which is steeped in history. The fact that we could take our dogs was a definite bonus.My 10 year old son claims to have had the best holiday of his life.
