Dunning Country House offers affordable, luxury accommodation with good old-fashioned hospitality. Stay with us in tranquil, beautiful surroundings. Located in Howick, we are perfectly placed to serve as a base from which to explore the Midlands Meander, visit local tourist spots or attend one of several world class events held in Pietermaritzburg and surrounds.

We offer 4 star, luxury accommodation in The Lodge, Aloe Gardens, Saddle Cottage, Boho Cottage, Bull Cottage and Garden Cottage.

The Lodge is the original main house retaining its original majesty, offering 4 en-suite rooms with Double/Queen beds and 2 luxury rooms with Twin beds. Our beds have goose down duvets and electric blankets.

There is a comfortable communal lounge and a veranda over-looking the sparkling blue pool.

We also offer conference facilities in our functions hall, for up to 100 guests.

Aloe Gardens offers 7 beautiful, en-suite bedrooms with Twin/Double beds. Situated adjacent to our functions hall, Aloe Gardens provides the total package from accommodation to catered events. There is a communal kitchen area

Saddle Cottage is a 3 bedroomed, fully equipped self-catering unit. Two rooms with Double/Queen beds and 1 Single room with en suite bathrooms. Goose down duvets and electric blankets will keep you warm through any chilly nights.

Boho Cottage is a 2 bedroom cottage both with en suite bathrooms (shower only). Open plan lounge/kitchen area with lovely patio overlooking the mountains and paddock.

Bull Cottage is a 2 bedroom cottage with en suite bathroom (1 with shower and 1 with old fashion bath), kitchenette, lounge/dining room area with lovely outside area overlooking the mountains and paddock.

Garden Cottage is a thatched, quaint, beautifully appointed cottage open plan bedroom/lounge and kitchenette with en suite bathroom (shower)

Three bedrooms in The Lodge has aircons.
All the bedrooms in Aloe Gardens and Saddle Cottage has aircons. Both bedrooms in Boho Cottage has aircons. Bull Cottage only have an aircon in the lounge/dining room area. Use of aircons/heaters - subject to an additional fee per day per aircon/heater.

The rate is self catering accommodation only.

"Saddle Cottage was well equipped and very comfortable. We were looked after and checked up on enough to feel cared for but not bothered. It was the little extras like the fresh farm milk in the fridge and delicious biscuits on arrival that added that little extra to a lovely stay."

Lovely clean and spacious rooms with attention to detail and an enormous farmhouse breakfast to put the cherry on the cake. Charlet, the owner really made a special effort to accommodate our needs. I can definitely recommend Dunning Country house and if the need arises we will definitely stay there again."
