The 3 day getaway included my birthday. It was Monday, we went to dinner in the restaurant for the evening.

Wonderful meal as well as friendly staff. We caught 12 fish. 11 rainbow and a brown trout.

We will definitely visit you again.

Thank you for your hospitality and clean place and wonderful dams.

"My husband and I had an amazing stay. We were completely relaxed and didnt want to leave by the time we had to go home. The Log cabins are cozy, modernly furnished but with comfort in mind.Kitchen is well outfitted and fireplace and gas braai worked very well. You can lie in bed in the morning and look out at the forest and hills while you have your coffee.Log cabins were a good distance from each other to give you privacy and the stream down below runs past the front of the log cabins which is great to fall asleep to at night. We went on one or two hikes and did some fly fishing around the dams, managed to catch two rainbow trout. Beautiful sunsets over the dams in the evening while watching the monkeys play and the bushbuck graze in the distance. One highlight of the trip for us was that there is no cellphone signal, it takes getting used to but once we put our phones away we immediately relaxed and left our technology stressed lives behind us.You can climb to the top of the hills to get signal if needed. Shaun was an incredible host, both he and his staff were very friendly and helpful at all times.
We will definitely be back and will be taking some friends or family with us too. Thank you for the great experience!"

"We had a

fantastic stay at Valley of The Rainbow. From the moment we arrived Janeman and

Riana, made us feel most welcome, and went out of their way to look after

ourevery need, namely fishing (best flies, advice of best location at

each dam, etc.), history of the farm, special drinks orders, advice on travel,

and most impressive was them helping us with my vehicle that would not start

because of a faulty battery.

You could

not ask for a more picturesque location. The old mills next to the top dam,

beautiful Manor House with the lush vegetation, nestle on the side of the

mountain is breathe taking. The Country Houseand its location are

phenomenal.

The food was

outstanding. Five course meal every evening, prepared brilliantly by

thechef, couple with the attentive service, was a delight!

What a great

experience we had at Valley of The Rainbow and highly recommend!

"We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The food was magnificent and delicious. The only note would be to advise people of the Gravel road which was tough and people should not drive at night and if they have a small car tonote the road. I have a 4x4 and still had to take huge care "

Being a lover of the bush, you couldn't hear a car or music etc. although we happened to stay next to 2 tents that were a family so we heard every single word that was said.

Not really much to do either. You have to be one of those people that can sit and do nothing for 2 days as they have a minimum 2 stay policy.

Compared to what I was told, it took us 3 hours and 20 minutes from JHB. Travelling 120/130 at times. So it's not really a quick getaway from JHB. "

The children could run around on the farm, they enjoyed fishing in the dam in front of the house, horse riding on the farm and also a walk to the waterfall! The bird life around the house was truly AMAZING!!

The house and bed linen was very clean and it was so quiet and dark in the evenings, a real pleasure being away from the busy city life!

We also had a lovely 6 course dinner at the Manor House (to be arranged in advance)!

We will definitely recommend a stay at the country house, private and ideally for families with children! Thanks Pieter, we will be back soon!"

"Wonderful resort"

They are basic self catering, fridge a bit small if you are staying long. The fly fishing was totally amazing and there is more than enough space should it get busy. The surrounding are stunning to say the least!! I do think that they could inform you of the activities they offer. We took a walk to the waterfall which was great, we also did some mountain biking...with our own bikes. The people are very friendly and welcoming. So overall we had a really great stay and will most certainly be going back!!!"

"Those who've never seen "Out of Africa" might not be able to relate; those who have seen the Meryl Streep flick surely will.
It was our first night in rural South Africa and as I sat on the porch of a cosy little tent on stilts - watching the sun go down and sipping a cold beer after tucking my kids into their comfy beds with big, fluffy duvets and electric blankets - I felt I'd finally "arrived". This, at last, was the Africa of my dreams and, of course, of the big screen.
The Valley of the Rainbow, with its attentive staff, cosy tent accommodation and brilliant six-course menu, was simply a wonderful way to be introduced to African hospitality, and I'd recommend it to anyone and everyone who has a night or two to spare, and who wants something a little off the beaten path.
Fly fishing, monkey spotting, resting, relaxing ... it's all class."
