Both night and day was so peaceful, we could just sit back, relax and enjoy the beautiful nature. A nice treat to our stay was the Knysna Loeries that came to visit quite often, this made it possible to take amazing photographs. I would not hesitate to revisit Fern Gully. Thank you Rob and Michelle. "

"Loved the peace and quiet and that the cabins were privately spaced. Could definitely have pyrex bowl/s for microwave to cook things in. Could also have serving bowls for salads and some plastic containers to store left over food in. I would not recommend it as pet friendly as the balcony is not closed in and is a fairly high fall into the bushes which had thorns on them, plus the residential dogs roam freely and often came to our cabin. For this reason I am glad we decided at the last minute not to bring our Boston Terrier.Other than that we had a great stay and it was a central location to all other towns and did spend most of our time visiting different locations"

"A home in the bush"

"These cabins were clean, quiet and beautifully furnished. The setting and the view were more beautiful than we could have possibly asked for. I would live there forever if I could. Fantastic and accommodating hosts!"

"We stayed in Coucal Cabin - a real tree house! Absolutely amazing setting, surrounded by birdsong and nature sounds. The cabin has everything you need, is clean and well-furnished, and Robert and Michelle are excellent hosts. But really, the magic of this place is being suspended in the treetops, disappearing into the forest canopy, and simply relishing the peace and (un)quiet!"

"Peace and Quiet"

(South Africa) Stephanie Jones

"What a fantastic place to stay.

Michelle was so relaxed and inviting , this is definitely a place that we will want to come and stay again.

Lying in bed listening to all the birds and the trees rustling is just the weekend we wanted. "

"Crawfords Stilbaai"

(South Africa) Elize Crawford

"Ons het baie lekker gebly en gekuier by Fern Gully. Die rustige atmosfeer met die Knysna Loeries wat kom kuier is baie spesiaal. Sal verseker weer terug gaan. "

"My husband and I stayed in Owl Cabin at Fern Gully.

On arrival at Fern Gully we were giving a heart warming welcome by Michelle and the dogs. We were shown where our cabin was and after a short walk through the forest came to our very cosy cabin. The cabin was clean and had all the amenities that we needed. There was a comfortable indoor and outdoor shower with hot water. We enjoyed sitting on the deck and listening to the birds. The highlight was the visits of Louis the Lorrie. He is so tame and will practically eat from your hand. We also heard an owl on our final night there.

The owners of Fern Gully are really friendly but do not interfere while you are there. We had complete privacy. There are 4 other cabins not far from each other but you do not see the other cabins. There are some that cater for families. The Owl cabin is for couples. I would definitely recommend Fern Gully to my friends and even strangers and will return there in the future.

"Our stay was very peaceful until the second last day of our stay, when some very noisy people arrived, and were staying at a cabin nearby. Of course that is not the fault of Fern Gulley, but perhaps they should leave a notice for guests to respect other guests and keep the noise levels down. The forest is beautiful and very peaceful, and we had an adorable friendly knysna lourie come visit every afternoon. My biggest complaint would be the shower curtain, which, when it is not sticking to every part of your body, billows out and lets the whole bathroom get wet, and the bathroom door handle kept coming off. Other than that though, the cabin was very sweet and well maintained."

"Hoopoe"

(South Africa) Mike D`Elboux

"The quietness of the area is what we were aiming for. We were respected and even the keys were left at our vehicle not to bother us. Had a good two day rest from our busy schedule."

"If you are looking for peace and tranquility look no further. Picture a little wooden cabin in the forest, where you cannot even see your neighbours. The cabin is tastefully decorated, it has everything you need and the most amazing woodwork. A lovely deck overlooking the forest just finishes off this picture - with even an outdoor shower! The hosts are super friendly and helpful and attentive to your needs. There are lourie that visit, but we were there just days after the devastating fires, so we did not get to see the lourie - next time.
I would definitely recommend this establishment to anyone wanting some rest and quiet. We will definitely be visiting again. Loved it. "

"Epitome Of Quaint And Rustic!"

"Owl Cabin is the epitome of quaint and rustic. The cabin is comfortable, peaceful and has everything one needs. It was a real pleasure to overnight there."

"Cabin in the forest!"

(South Africa) Loretta

"Fantastic getaway. Ideal for a rest away from the TV. Kids loved the forest. Was like camping. The cabin was as they said "amazing". Very nice place to go."

"A visit to Fern Gully promises a break-away from city life. A peaceful and tranquil rest in a secluded cabin. The outside hot shower is a lovely plus, as is the Knysna Loerie that came to visit a few times during our stay. There are only a few things that should be communicated to potential visitors before booking:

1. There is TV - only SABC 1 gets reception, and very poorly.
2. It also says they have video - they actually have DVD players, so bring DVD’s if you wish as they supply only old British movies.
3. They advertise as having "braai" facilities. They do not however allow any braaing with wood. Only bricketts allowed and they supply you with a mini braai or "skottel" braai.

"If you're looking for some time out of the city and would like to get up close and personal with nature...this place is a must. The cottage we stayed in was quaint and had everything we needed. We had a 2 vistiors in our cottage upon arrival. A spider called "Soekie" and a bat....it's what you can expect when you're literally in the forest. With only a few km's from Knysna, it's at a very convenient location.

Will definitely go there again!"
