The décor is unfussy and modern, with white American blinds ensuring cool privacy. The main lounge and dining room open onto a beautiful Karoo stone barbeque area with splash pool. The top-floor bar lounge, equipped with a 60“ plasma TV with all DSTV channels, has a spacious sea-view terrace while also giving access to a rooftop deck where 360° views of mountain and sea can be enjoyed.

Guests can use the internet facilities in the library or relax on its mountain-view terrace, where gently cascading waterfalls convey a sense of peace and tranquility. The temperature-controlled walk-in wine cellar is stocked with the finest wines from local estates.

All the luxury suites have extra-length king size or twin beds with fine percale bed linen and supersoft allergy-free duvets. Each fully automated room is equipped with a bar fridge, tea & coffee tray, flat screen TV, international adaptor, mini safe, hairdryer, WiFi internet. The bathrooms have a bath, shower, twin washbasins, heated towel rails and cotton gowns.

The village centre with its many boutiques, bookshops, coffee shops, restaurants, markets, art galleries and museums is a 5-minute drive away. Hermanus is one of the world’s top land-based whale watching destinations. The Southern Right whales visit its shores between the months of June and December.

Rich in fynbos and bird life, Hermanus has much to offer the outdoor enthusiast. Lovely hikes and picnic spots abound along with pristine beaches, amongst which is the famed blue flag Grotto Beach, just a 5 minute-drive from Selkirk House. Wine lovers can visit estates in the Hemel & Aarde Valley and other regions like Stanford and Bot River.
