"We had the most amazing stay at Matjiesvlei, in Bokwagtershuis the weekend of 20 - 23 September. The house is really spacious, clean, beautifully furbished with older and a few more modern furniture and finishes. But nothing to make it feel like just another holiday house. It felt like a real authentic farmhouse of your own family, but with all the necessary luxuries, to make it the most pleasant stay you can imagine. The indoor braai in the living area is such a bonus, The view from the living room is spectacular. I comes highly recommend! "

"Excellent location along a hilly gravel road. Views over olives and the hills. Enjoyed the stoep, and cool breeze. Although it feels far away from it all......you have WiFi."

"If you enjoy doing nothing and love the stillness of the Karoo, lazing on the stoep, overlooking olive groves then this karoo house (die stalle) is for you. We loved being on the stoep with a fire going in the evening. After a great sleep on white bedding you wake up to the sound of all the birds...."

We loved being on the stoep with a fire going in the evening. After a great sleep on white bedding you wake up to the sound of all the birds. Take a stroll down to a small stream below the house. Thank you...I will be back again."

"Lovely flowers"

(South Africa) Sandy Dowling

"We spent three wonderful days at Die Stalle. October must be one of the best months, with flowers everywhere on the mountains. The accommodation was very comfortable - we just lived on the wide veranda when not walking and exploring. Well done on having clearly marked containers for recycling!"

"What an absolutely wonderful find. Our stay although only for one night, was far more than we ever could have dreamed of. The house was spotless, had every amenity one could wish for and more. The view is breathtaking, and the stillness sublime. I would certainly recommend this home away from home to anyone who is looking for that something different in their lives. We certainly hope to be back at some time in the near future.
Thank you for letting us share in this little piece of heaven Marietjie."

"Die Stalle has 'Olde World' charm of a bygone era set on the beautiful farm Matjiesvlei, which oozes very interesting history. The quaint Post Office Museum is a short walk from the Cottage and has a small, but interesting collection of artefacts from a bygone era.

"Die Stalle has 'Olde World' charm of a bygone era set on the beautiful farm Matjiesvlei, which oozes very interesting history. The quaint Post Office Museum is a short walk from the Cottage and has a small, but interesting collection of artefacts from a bygone era.
The cottage was comfortable and clean. After arrival the caretaker presented us with a delicious loaf of hot, freshly baked honey bread, which was devoured with dinner.
Being winter we were very grateful for the air-con which warmed up the cottage. Although the kitchen is reasonably equipped it is rustic and not farm style sized, however, we managed to provide one dinner for 4 adults and 2 lively kids on the tiny 2 plate table top stove as we had some frozen meals with us. There is a magnificent stoep running the full length of the cottage providing an excellent entertainment area (fabulous for the summer months) with a huge braai facility, an outside vegetable basin with work surface, a kitchen cupboard, a massive table and benches for seating a large group as well as some comfy wicker chairs.
We thoroughly enjoyed our weekend at Die Stalle.
